Pilosocereus leucocephalus is a barrel cactus, they are bluish-green branched columnar cacti that can reach to 6 meters in height. They have numerous white hairs, with 7-12 radial brown spines (yellow in young plants) and 1-2 thicker central spines. The flowers are funnel-shaped with greenish or reddish outer segments, reddish and pink in color, and funnel or bell-shaped. They bloom on summer nights.
They are used in pots when they are young but when they grow up they are used to form barriers, in groups or as isolated on the garden landscaping.
