As we know, the ficus bonsai is a tropical plant, everything about the chinese banyan tree is like the warm weather. Ficus Bonsai not only hates cold weather, it cannot survive in it. The best temperature for ficus growing is 18-35 ℃. In winter, the ficus will be frost when the temperature under 10 ℃ for a while.

What is the signs about the frost damage?

After frost damage the ficus bonsai tree's leaves may turn from green to a yellowish-brown. Partial or full leaf will be drop . Portions of the tree may still retain leaves, but some sections may drop them.

How to preventing the ficus frost damage?

The best way to prevent frost damage is by moving the plant indoors when the cold temperature arrives. This is obviously only possible if you keep the tree in a pot. But if your plants are big and landscaping in your garden, adding a 3- to 4-inch layer of mulch may prevent severe winter damage, give them anti-cold paint for trunk and cover by cold cotton for leaves.

How to recover after frost damage?

HS Bonsai Nursery suggests that trim all the damaged leaves and cutting back affected branches until you see green growth at the location of the cut. Scratch along the branch with a small knife or your fingernail to reveal the skin to check if its green.
